Stephen Prior writes and illustrates humorous picture books for children. He is drawn to unlikely characters, unexpected questions and stories that approach the world with warmth, curiosity and kindness.
Originally from Australia, his career as a creative director has taken him to Amsterdam, Zurich, Budapest and Seoul. Along the way, he discovered that the stories he most wanted to tell were for children.
His books combine playful characters with a distinctive geometric illustration style, creating worlds that are simple, expressive and full of visual comedy. Originally written in English, they have been published in Korea, with several titles now in multiple editions.
Whether it's a nervous tree, an optimistic snail or well-meaning tooth decay, Stephen's characters are rarely heroes or villains. They're simply trying to make sense of the world.
His Unbox Your Self series includes Good Morning, Mister Poo, Home Strange Home and Sebastian, That Is Not Your House!, with several more picture books currently in development.
